Waste Management Programme in Thrikkaipetta, the Bamboo Village!

by | Mar 29, 2016 | Blog

Uravu Eco Links (UEL) has started the first step of its Waste Management Programme on 17 March 2016. This first collection of segregated plastic, glass, metal, paper and e-waste was a real success, as all the participants gave their waste in a very well segregated and clean manner to Uravu Eco Links’ partner, a waste collector and manager from the region. Our partner is collecting segregated waste and sells it to companies, which reuse it in order to create new items.

This project is based on the RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) programme of Uravu and Uravu Eco Links.

This recycling part of the project is organised by UEL for the Uravu Bamboo Grove Resort, interested villagers and shop managers in Thrikkaipetta, the Uravu Bamboo Common Facility Centre and the UEL office. Whoever is interested is most welcome to join.

Uravu Eco Links is also working on awareness-raising regarding waste management in the village. Information sessions on the topic waste management, littering and RRR are planned for the following weeks in Thrikkaipetta.
