Community tourism – Uravu Eco Links Ltd. and the Mananthavady Tribal Plantation Cooperative Society

The Priyadarshini Tea Environs, officially known as the Mananthavady Tribal Plantation Corporative Society, is a special tea estate in Wayanad, near the town of Mananthavady. The workers, belonging to Adivasi (tribal) families who were formerly bonded laborers, are the shareholders of the society. The Sub Collector is the manager of this project, which is supported by the government. The estate was founded in 1983 and is managed in accordance with social and ethical standards. Besides employment, it is provides the workers with food, accommodation and educational opportunities. It has become a source of employment and livelihood for hundreds of Adivasi people.  The Uravu Bamboo Grove Resort is happy to be able to collaborate with this social and community-based tourism project.
