The month long design workshop of the Bamboo log project has finally come to a close. 26 architecture and design students participated, to produce some brilliant housing and furniture designs and plans. In the end we all realised that it was not about promoting bamboo or creating fabulous designs but the quality of relationships between people that mattered the most. As it is always the way at Thrikkaipetta, the bamboo village embraced the entire student community and made them feel a part of it. Many of them left feeling contented and proud about being part of an important cause to improve the lives of people by creating better homes for them. They also left with the promise to come back.
