Loyola College Faculty Visit: Exploring Sustainable Models at Uravu Bamboo Grove

by | Apr 28, 2025 | Blog, News | 0 comments

We were delighted to host a group of 11 faculty members from the Department of Social Science, Loyola College, Chennai, at Uravu Bamboo Grove recently. Their visit was part of a development studies program, focusing on understanding real-world sustainable models and community-based enterprises.
The session began with a warm round of self-introductions, setting the tone for an open and enriching exchange. Mr. Sivaraj, MD, Uravu Eco Links took the visitors through the journey of Uravu — how it started as a dream, grew through various phases, and where it stands today. His talk covered not just the successes but also the everyday challenges we navigate: balancing opportunities with ground realities, working with government systems, and sustaining community participation over time.
It was heartening to see the genuine curiosity and engagement from the visiting faculty. Their questions sparked meaningful discussions about development models, local entrepreneurship, and the power of sustainable ecosystems like ours.
Encouragingly, the team from Loyola College expressed a strong interest in collaborating with Uravu Bamboo Grove in the future. We look forward to exploring possibilities for workshops, knowledge exchanges, and joint initiatives that can deepen learning and impact for both sides.
Visits like these remind us why we do what we do — building bridges between education, sustainability, and community empowerment.
